Tips On Safety - Mar 14, 2011

As we approch the end of our first quarter Dominion would like to personally thank all of our clients and staff for allowing us to provide exceptional services at competitive rates.

Here are some tips to look for when entering any and all general building or locations for your own protection.

look around. When you enter any building to take responsibility for your personal safety.

Before entering the buildings: Note.

Does the building appear to be in a condition that makes you feel safe?
Is the main entrance wide and does it open outward to allow for easy evacuation?

After entering the premises: Note

Locate all available exits, and check for clear exit paths. Are the exits clearly marked and well lit?
Be prepared to use the exit closest to you, in case you are unable to reach the main exit.
There must be at least two clearly marked exits that are not blocked.
Does the building appear to be overcrowded?
Are there fire sources such as candles, or other heat sources that make you feel unsafe? ask yourself what is the best plan and always consider your own saftey.

What to do in an Emergency Situation:
React immediately.
If the fire alarm sounds, or there’s any indication of smoke or fire, head for the nearest exit and leave the building in a calm and orderly fashion. Do not panic.
Once out, stay out. Move away from the building. This allows others to exit safely and firefighters to enter.
The Calgary Fire Department is working with Security and partners of the city on the Public Safety Task Force to make sure this city stays safe. Owners and staff of buildings must also keep theese tips in mind.
